CONFINE
After the summer break, NUMM Contemporary Art is pleased to inaugurate the new exhibition season with a solo show by Diego Dominici (Turin, 1980), an artist and photographer who has spent over fifteen years exploring the most intimate and complex territories of human experience through photography.
The exhibition offers a dual focus on the artist’s body of work, with particular attention to the recent series Empty Spaces, in which Dominici adopts mixed media as a form of expression for the first time. This approach is not only a technical experiment but also a truly transformative act, rooted in a profound inner movement.
The artist invites us to explore the boundary between the outer and the inner, the visible and the invisible, creating works that breathe, transform, and draw us into a deep, meditative journey, says curator Enrica Benedetto.
Philosophically structured and visually powerful, Diego Dominici’s works examine fragility, obsessions, and the hidden currents of the unconscious. His photography doesn’t just depict, it reveals: each image opens a passage between the personal and the universal, between formal beauty and conceptual depth.
With Empty Spaces, Dominici continues the journey begun with the series Atman, yet marks a conceptual shift. If Atmanexplored the boundary between the inner and the outer, the movement now reverses and turns inward. Emptiness becomes a space of transformation, a starting point for newfound awareness.
On September 6 at 11:00 AM, NUMM Contemporary Art will host a conversation with artist Diego Dominici and curator Enrica Benedetto. During the event, Dominici will present a live performance, personally customizing each exhibition catalogue using the same mixed media technique featured in his Empty Spaces series. Each catalogue will become a unique moment of reflection, offering those in attendance the chance to connect with the artist and share in an emotional, intimate experience.
